Nanking Cherry (Prunus tomentosa) is a large shrub that produces small tasty cherries. They’re tough plants with absolutely beautiful flowers that blossom in the early spring. It makes a great hedge and is a wonderful edible landscaping plant—highly ornamental and also very productive. Definitely the most reliable cherry I grow. The berries make a great snack—about a half-inch in diameter, sweet and juicy. Zone 3—7.
